222 Conference Purpose

Theology matters. In John 17:3, Jesus prays that believers would know God. Theology is about knowing God. Too often, people think that theology is only for the academically-inclined but not for the person in the church pews. This is a mistake. Theology is for everyone because theology helps us to understand God as He has chosen to reveal Himself through His Word. This is why the 222 Conference exists—to assist you in thinking through theological matters that affect your lives and the lives of those whom you serve in the church. The elders of Grace Bible Church are praying that our time together would be fruitful and helpful to you in your ministry.

222 Conference - 2023

The Trinity

Speakers: Dr. Fred Sanders & Dr. Ryan Rippee
October 20-21, 2023

Dr. Fred Sanders

Speaker for 2023

Fred Sanders is a theologian who tried to specialize in the doctrine of the Trinity, but found that everything in Christian life and thought is connected to the triune God. As a result, he studies, teaches, and writes across the full range of Christian doctrines. Since 1999, Fred has taught in the Torrey Honors College, an undergraduate program in the great books, at Biola University. Fred studied art (drawing and printmaking) in college, earned an MDiv at Asbury Theological Seminary, and a PhD from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA. He and his wife Susan (who have been friends since they met at age 11) are members of Grace Evangelical Free Church in La Mirada, CA. They have two adult children. Fred has written several books and articles; his most important books are The Deep Things of God: How the Trinity Changes Everything (Crossway, 2010); The Triune God (Zondervan, 2016); and Fountain of Salvation: Trinity and Soteriology (Eerdmans, 2021). He blogs copiously at scriptoriumdaily.com, and maintains an active presence on Twitter.

Dr. Ryan Rippee

Speaker for 2023

Ryan is the pastor of Trinity Church of Benicia in Benicia, CA and the current president of The Cornerstone Bible College and Seminary (since 2019). Ryan grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and has a heart to minister to the people here, training up pastors to serve and teach in this unique region. He received a B.A. degree from the University of California at Davis in History (1999), a M.Div. from The Cornerstone Seminary (2007), and a Ph.D. from Southern Seminary with an emphasis in Biblical Spirituality and a minor in Church History (2016). Ryan is the author of Preaching that Exalts Christ: The Pulpit Ministry of Steve Fernandez and That God May Be All in All. After serving in pastoral ministry at Grace Church of Napa Valley in Napa, CA and Calvary Community Church in Brentwood, CA, Ryan planted Trinity Church of Benicia in his home community (in 2022). Ryan enjoys teaching annually at Munster Bible College in Cork, Ireland and is a Ph.D. advisor at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri and Columbia Biblical Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina. He has taught bible conferences in Uganda, Honduras, the Philippines, and Spain. To unwind, Ryan loves training and teaching Brazilian Jui-Jitsu!
